Reconstructive Surgery in a Patient with High Radial Nerve Palsy Using the WALANT Technique

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2022
Summary:. Tendon transfers can be tied too tight or too loose. Both impede good function after surgery. Performing tendon transfers without sedation and pain during the surgery and then watching the patient move the transfer have helped us adjust the ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Fully Arthroscopic Anterior Latissimus Dorsi and Teres Major Transfer for Anterosuperior Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques
A variety of treatment options have been proposed for patients with anterosuperior irreparable rotator cuff tears (ASIRCTs). The anterior latissimus dorsi (LD) tendon transfer has proven to be a viable option, because it serves as an internal rotator and

Tendon Transference in Poliomyelitis [PDF]

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1956
The commonly accepted principles for tendon transference are re- viewed. The indications for operating on children and for carrying out these operations on the foot without stabilizing operations a...

Operative versus nonoperative treatment of acute Achilles tendon ruptures: A pilot economic decision analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: The operative treatment of Achilles tendon ruptures has been associated with lower rerupture rates and better function but also a risk of surgery-related complications compared with nonoperative treatment, which may provide improved outcomes ...

Deletion of EP4 in S100a4-lineage cells reduces scar tissue formation during early but not later stages of tendon healing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Tendon injuries heal via scar tissue rather than regeneration. This healing response forms adhesions between the flexor tendons in the hand and surrounding tissues, resulting in impaired range of motion and hand function.

Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...

Distal Biceps Brachii Tendon Transfer for Re-establishing Extrinsic Finger Function: Feasibility Study in Cadavers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose To determine the anatomic feasibility of transferring the biceps brachii tendon into either the extensor digitorum communis (EDC) or flexor digitorum profundus (FDP), determine the excursion imparted to EDC and FDP tendons after transfer, and ...

Piezoelectric Surface Charge and Dynamic Stimulation Synergize to Promote Cardiac Myoblast Alignment and Maturation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Surface polarization of PVDF films combined with mechanical stimulation generates piezoelectric electrical cues that modulate cardiomyoblast behaviour. Non‐poled and poled PVDF substrates provide distinct electroactive microenvironments influencing cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.
