Olecranon fractures, which make up 10% of upper extremity fractures in adults, often require anatomic reduction and stable internal fixation. Successful olecranon fracture osteosynthesis has classically been achieved via tension band wiring or plate ...

Percutaneous versus conventional tension band wiring in olecranon fractures [PDF]
BackgroundDisplaced olecranon fractures are the commonest fractures in the elbows of the adults that require operative treatment. The second most encountered complication was skin breakdown, which may lead to infection, either superficial or deep ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A novel anatomical patellar plate for transverse patellar fracture – A biomechanical in-vitro study
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the safety and stability of our novel anatomical patella plate and to compare its stability with tension band-wire technique. Methods: A total of 12 cadaveric preserved knees (six right and six left patellae)

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Background: Tension-Band Wiring (TBW) is the treatment of choice for displaced, non-comminuted olecranon fractures. Due to the high complication rate involved with TBW, particularly the need for re-operative hardware removal, an alternate method using a high-strength, non-metallic Tension-Band Suture (TBS) construct has been precipitated.

Objective: Few reports exist on the treatment of transverse patellar fractures (TPFs) using absorbable cannulated screws and high-strength sutures, and most screws and sutures lack good biomechanics and clinical trials.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Background: Tension band wiring (TBW) is a widely accepted tech-nique for olecranon fractures. Various investigators have reported a significant rate of complications especially hardware prominence. The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical
