Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Tensor functions of tensors and the concept of extended tensor fields

open access: yes, 2005
Tensor fields depending on other tensor fields are considered. The concept of extended tensor fields is introduced and the theory of differentiation for such fields is developed.

A Versatile Method for Trifocal Tensor Estimation

open access: yes, 2001
Reliable estimation of the trifocal tensor is crucial for 3D reconstruction from uncalibrated cameras. The estimation process is based on minimizing the geometric distances between the measurements and the corrected data points, the underlying nonlinear ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Tripartite entanglement decompositions for tensor networks

open access: yes
openThe candidate will consider the problem of efficiently decomposing a tripartite tensor into a small tensor network (3-6), with three tensors and six total links (three external, three internal).

A note on the nonabelian tensor square [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper, we determine the nonabelian tensor square G?G for special orthogonal groups SO n(F q) and spin groups Spinn (F q), where F q is a field with q ...

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...
