Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Biquadratic Tensors: Eigenvalues and Structured Tensors
The covariance tensors in statistics and Riemann curvature tensor in relativity theory are both biquadratic tensors that are weakly symmetric, but not symmetric in general. Motivated by this, in this paper, we consider nonsymmetric biquadratic tensors and extend M-eigenvalues to nonsymmetric biquadratic tensors by symmetrizing these tensors. We present

This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Efficient Tensor Sensing for RF Tomographic Imaging on GPUs
Radio-frequency (RF) tomographic imaging is a promising technique for inferring multi-dimensional physical space by processing RF signals traversed across a region of interest. Tensor-based approaches for tomographic imaging are superior at detecting the

An efficient Q-tensor-based algorithm for liquid crystal alignment away from defects
We develop a fast and accurate approximation of the normally stiff equations which minimize the Landau–de Gennes free energy of a nematic liquid crystal. The resulting equations are suitable for all configurations in which defects are not present, making

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...
