Dynamical properties of the tent map

Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 2016
This paper considers the family of tent maps \(T_\alpha:[0,1] \rightarrow [0,1]\) with \(\alpha >1\) whose graphs contain the points \((0,0)\), \((\frac{1}{\alpha},1)\), and \((1,0)\). The aim of the paper is to find \(\alpha\)'s for which \[ {\text{Per}}(T_\alpha)=\mathbb{Q}(\alpha)\cap [0,1], \qquad {\text{(P)}} \] \[ {\text{Fin}}(T_\alpha)=\mathbb{Z}

Generalized Smooth Transition Map Between Tent and Logistic Maps

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2017
There is a continuous demand on novel chaotic generators to be employed in various modeling and pseudo-random number generation applications. This paper proposes a new chaotic map which is a general form for one-dimensional discrete-time maps employing the power function with the tent and logistic maps as special cases.

Topological Conjugacy Between Skew Tent Maps

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2015
This paper investigates the conjugacy of any two skew tent maps. An explicit formula is given for the conjugacy. It is proved that the conjugacy is singular, Hölder continuous and not differentiable as well as its inverse. We calculate the arc-length of the conjugacy curve and the area under the conjugacy curve.

On a property specific to the tent map

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2006
The tent map is defined as \(\phi:[0,1]\to[0,1]\), where \(\phi(x)=2x\) if \(x\in[0,0.5]\) and \(\phi(x)=2-2x\) if \(x\in [0.5,1]\). Let \(\{\omega_i\}_{i=0}^\infty\) be a sequence such that each \(\omega_i\) is either \([0,0.5]\) or \([0.5,1]\). Then there exists an \(x_0\in\omega_0\) such that \(\phi(x_0)\in\omega_1\), \((\phi\circ\phi)(x_0)\in ...

The Improved Equilibrium Optimization Algorithm with Tent Map

2020 5th International Conference on Computer and Communication Systems (ICCCS), 2020
We all know that the chaos could be introduced to the bionic algorithms and improve their capabilities. It can be used to spread the populations at the initializing phase, it can be also used to map the best candidate for another iteration choice. In this paper, we introduce the Tent map to the equilibrium optimization algorithm (EOA) and results show ...

The Derivative of the Conjugacy Between Skew Tent Maps

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2018
We consider in this article the properties of topological conjugacy of the tent-like maps [Formula: see text], which are piecewise linear and whose graph consists of straight line segments, extending from [Formula: see text] to [Formula: see text] to [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a parameter.

Significance of the Tent Map Bifurcations in Continuous Media

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1997
This study provides an incidence where the dynamics of pattern selection is described by the bifurcations of a tent map. This study also shows that the tent map bifurcations in nonlinear systems are structurally stable, implying experimental observability.

Image encryption using generalized tent map

2013 IEEE 20th International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS), 2013
This paper introduces two generalized tent maps where the conventional map is a special case. Although the output of the conventional tent map shows different responses, it has only one control parameter that limits its behavior and applications. The proposed generalized tent maps increase the degrees of freedom and produce a versatile response that ...
