We realized a phase retrieval technique using terahertz (THz) radiation as an alternative to THz digital holography, named THz ptychography. Ptychography has been used in x-ray imaging as a groundbreaking improvement of conventional coherent diffraction imaging. Here we show that ptychography can be performed at THz frequencies too. We reconstructed an

The ability to retrieve information from different layers within a stratified sample using terahertz pulsed reflection imaging and spectroscopy has traditionally been resolution limited by the pulse width available. In this paper, a deconvolution algorithm is presented which circumvents this resolution limit, enabling deep sub-wavelength and sub-pulse ...

We present an overview and history of terahertz (THz) sources for readers of the biomedical and optical community for applications in physics, biology, chemistry, medicine, imaging, and spectroscopy. THz low-frequency vibrational modes are involved in many biological, chemical, and solid state physical processes.

Coherent two-dimensional terahertz-terahertz-Raman spectroscopy [PDF]
Significance The thermally populated motions of liquids, including hydrogen bonds, low-energy bending vibrations, conformational torsions, and hindered rotations, are resonant in the terahertz region of the spectrum. These motions regulate solvation, macromolecular structure, and vibrational energy flow in liquid-phase chemistry.

Current tuned slotted Y‐branch laser for wafer thickness measurements with THz radiation
A slotted Y‐branch laser diode that emits two spectral modes at a difference frequency of about 1 THz is investigated in the context of photonic based cw‐THz measurements.

Multi-resonant tunable absorber of terahertz metamaterial based on GaAs and VO2
Based on the fact that the conductivity of photosensitive semiconductors can be regulated by external pump light, a metamaterial absorber with single-band and dual-band switchable in terahertz region is designed by replacing gallium arsenide (GaAs ...

Investigation on the origin of terahertz waves generated by dc-biased multimode semiconductor lasers at room temperature [PDF]
A technique to measure a terahertz wave generated by spectrum tailored Fabry–Pérot lasers (FP) is assessed. A dc-biased and 25 °C temperature controlled FP is probed by a continuous wave signal, tuned at 20 nm away from its lasing modes.

CMOS Terahertz Metamaterial Based 64 × 64 Bolometric Detector Arrays [PDF]
We present two terahertz detectors composed of microbolometer sensors (vanadium oxide and silicon pn diode) and metamaterial absorbers monolithically integrated into a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process.

Polarization-maintaining reflection-mode THz time-domain spectroscopy of a polyimide based ultra-thin narrow-band metamaterial absorber [PDF]
This paper reports the design, the microfabrication and the experimental characterization of an ultra-thin narrow-band metamaterial absorber at terahertz frequencies.
