Ultra-wideband THz/IR Metamaterial Absorber based on Doped Silicon

open access: yes, 2018
Metamaterial-based absorbers have been extensively investigated in the terahertz (THz) range with ever increasing performances. In this paper, we propose an all-dielectric THz absorber based on doped silicon.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Handed Magnon Propagation in Easy‐Axis Antiferromagnetic α‐Fe2O3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 9, 12 February 2026.
Coherent excitation and detection of handed magnons are achieved in the easy‐axis antiferromagnet α‐Fe2O3. An external magnetic field lifts the degeneracy between left‐ and right‐handed magnons without affecting their propagation velocity. The Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction and anisotropy modulate their amplitude and damping, enabling intrinsic ...

High Charge Carrier Mobility in Non‐Conjugated 3D Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A non‐conjugated 3D COF constructed via boronate ester linkages from tetraphenylene and pyrene‐based monomers is reported, which exhibits a high charge carrier mobility of 14 ± 1 cm2 V−1 s−1. ABSTRACT π‐Conjugation, π–π stacking, and long‐range order play a central role in determining charge transport efficiency in organic materials.

A 300 GHz "Always-in-Focus" Focusing System for Target Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A focusing system for a 300 GHz radar with 5 m target distance and 10 mm diameter spot size resolution is proposed. The focusing system is based on a Gaussian telescope scheme and its main parameters have been de¬signed using Gaussian beam quasi-optical ...

Photo‐Reconfigurable Supercoupling Induced Transparency in On‐Chip Topological Edge State Cavities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel supercoupling induced transparency (SIT) is demonstrated in a valley‐Hall photonic crystal. The valley vortices enable the supercoupling between a leaky and a guided topological edge state cavity even across a distance of 4.3 wavelengths, inducing a transparency window with negligible reflection.

Terahertz fiber devices

open access: yesAPL Photonics
The transmission line is one of the most fundamental components for the implementation of electromagnetic systems, such as electric cables and optical fibers for microwave and optic applications, respectively. The terahertz band, sandwiched between those

The role of nonlinear optical absorption in narrow-band difference frequency terahertz-wave generation

open access: yes, 2009
We present a general analysis of the influence of nonlinear optical absorption on terahertz generation via optical difference frequency generation, when reaching for the quantum conversion efficiency limit.
