Terahertz band Bragg reflectors
2008 33rd International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter and Terahertz Waves, 2008A planar narrow band Bragg reflector based on coupling of propagating and quasi-cutoff modes is considered. Coupled waves analysis together with direct numerical simulations demonstrate the operability of novel scheme up to THz frequency band.

Modulation of a dual-band metamaterial absorber in the terahertz band
Physica Scripta, 2020Abstract In this paper, a tunable metamaterials absorber with Dirac semimetals and VO 2 strips is present in the Terahertz (THz) range. At room temperature, two absorption peaks are revealed at resonance frequencies 10.1 THz (76% amplitude) and 20.3 THz (60% amplitude ...

Exploiting the Terahertz Band for Radionavigation
Journal of Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2016This paper demonstrates the feasibility of GPS-like ranging at terahertz (THz) frequencies. It is well established that GPS carrier signals are vulnerable to jamming via radio-frequency interference (RFI). As a result, there is a need for alternative radionavigation systems. THz signals offer a compelling option.

Optimizing Energy Consumption in Terahertz Band Nanonetworks
IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2014In this paper, we develop a technique for achieving the maximum utilization of harvested energy in perpetual wireless nanonetworks, where nanonodes communicate in the THz frequency band. Because of their nano-scale sizes, nanonodes cannot store large amounts of energy.

Channel Capacity of Electromagnetic Nanonetworks in the Terahertz Band
2010 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2010Nanotechnology is enabling the development of devices in a scale ranging from one to a few hundred nanometers. Coordination and information sharing among these nano-devices will lead towards the development of future nanonetworks, rising new applications of nanotechnology in the medical, environmental and military fields.

Propagation Modeling for Wireless Communications in the Terahertz Band
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2018Terahertz band (0.1-10 THz) communication is envisioned as a key technology to support ultra-broadband wireless systems for beyond 5G. For realization of efficient wireless communication networks in the THz band, it is imperative to develop channel models that can accurately and efficiently characterize the THz spectrum peculiarities.

A discussion on molecular absorption noise in the terahertz band
Nano Communication Networks, 2016Abstract This paper focuses on molecular absorption noise caused by molecular absorption in the higher frequency bands, such as THz band (0.1–10 THz). This transmission induced noise has been predicted to exist in the THz band, since the conservation of energy requires the conservation of the absorbed energy in the medium. There exist multiple models

Practical dual-band terahertz imaging system
Applied Optics, 2017This paper introduces a dual-band terahertz imaging system as a potential product for nondestructive testing using heterodyne detectors and continuous-wave sources. The operating frequencies of the system are 110.4 and 220.8 GHz. Multiband fusion technology combines the advantages of the greater spatial resolution of the high-frequency band and the ...

Radio Simultaneous Localization and Mapping in the Terahertz Band.
2021In this paper, we introduce and experimentally validate a simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm based on the processing of radar data captured in the Terahertz (THz) band. We describe a measurement campaign carried out using a dedicated setup with the purpose to investigate the main properties of the signal backscattered in an indoor ...
