A terahertz plasmon cavity detector
Applied Physics Letters, 2010Sensitivity of a plasmonic detector is enhanced by integrating a broadband log-periodic antenna with a two-dimensional plasma cavity that is defined by source, drain, and multiple gates of a GaAs/AlGaAs high electron mobility transistor. Both narrow-band terahertz detection and a rich harmonic spectrum are evident.

Plasmonic terahertz detectors/spectrometers
35th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2010A miniature high speed tera- and gigahertz electromagnetic radiation detector/spectrometer has been created. The operation principle is based on the excitation of distinct sets of plasma modes in the two-dimensional electron system (2DES) of semiconductor AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure with embedded nonlinear defect.
