Terahertz radiation by ultrafast spontaneous polarization modulation in multiferroic BiFeO$_3$ thin films

open access: yes, 2005
Terahertz (THz) radiation has been observed from multiferroic BiFeO$_3$ thin films via ultrafast modulation of spontaneous polarization upon carrier excitation with illumination of femtosecond laser pulses.

Large Anomalous Hall Effect, Non‐Vanishing Berry Curvature in (110) FeRh Antiferromagnet Films via Interface Strain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a strain‐tunable anomalous Hall response in the (110)‐oriented FeRh thin film. First‐principles calculations reveal that strain‐induced symmetry lowering redistributes Berry curvature near the Fermi level via band shifts and avoided crossings.

Delineating nonmelanoma skin cancer margins using terahertz and optical imaging

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Photonics & Engineering, 2017
We evaluated terahertz reflectance imaging and a combination of terahertz and optical techniques for delineating nonmelanoma skin cancers. After imaging, each terahertz pixel of each specimen was classified as cancerous or normal using a previously ...

Semiconducting THO‐C3N Monolayers for Ultrahigh Anisotropic Carrier Mobility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A precise site‐specific N‐doping strategy that drives a secondary electronic transition in net W is proposed, enabling the electronic properties transition from metal to Dirac semimetal and ultimately to semiconductor. The obtained THO‐C3N‐2 and THO‐C3N‐3 semiconductors exhibit high carrier mobilities and pronounced mobility anisotropy, with THO‐C3N‐2 ...

Label‐Free and Immobilization‐Free Protein‐Binding Assays by Ultraviolet Transient Absorption Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A femtosecond UV pump–probe microscope resolves binding‐induced changes in protein excited‐state dynamics and converts these intrinsic contrasts into an equilibrium affinity readout. By probing tryptophan responses directly in solution, the approach enables quantitative determination of dissociation constants without labeling or immobilization ...

Terahertz Quantum Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies
Abstract Quantum imaging offers a powerful method for spatially transferring amplitude and phase information between spectral regions of interest, even when separated by several orders of magnitude in photon energy. However, so far demonstrations have been limited to regions of similar orders of magnitude in frequency, where ...
