Optically thin terahertz metamaterials
Resonant properties of optically thin metamaterials are studied by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. Both the lower energy inductor-capacitor (LC) and the higher energy dipole resonances of the planar double split-ring resonators (SRRs) exhibit characteristic evolution with various sub-skin-depth thicknesses of the constituent Pb film.

Terahertz metamaterial devices [PDF]
Compared to the neighboring infrared and microwave regions, the terahertz regime is still in need of fundamental technological advances. This derives, in part, from a paucity of naturally occurring materials with useful electronic or photonic properties at terahertz frequencies. This results in formidable challenges for creating the components needed

Random terahertz metamaterials [PDF]
Using terahertz time domain spectroscopy we investigate the normal incidence transmission through periodically and randomly arranged planar split ring resonators (SRRs). Introduction of positional disorder in metamaterials has no effect on the quality factor of the fundamental Inductive-Capacitive (LC) resonance.
