Asynchronous optical sampling, terahertz impulse radar

2009 Conference on Lasers & Electro Optics & The Pacific Rim Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2009
Rapid THz impulse radar was achieved by combination of time-of-flight measurement of THz pulse and asynchronous optical sampling technique. The precision of 354 µm was achieved in the displacement measurement.

A High-Resolution Terahertz LFMCW Experimental Radar

2013
A summary of UESTC’s Terahertz (THz) imaging radar is presented, with an emphasis on some key design aspects. By using of the linear frequency modulated continuous-wave (LFMCW) radar technique with a 4.8 GHz bandwidth, nearly 3 cm range resolution is achieved.

Terahertz imaging radar with aperture synthetic techniques for object detection

2013 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC), 2013
Terahertz imaging is considered as a promising detection and imaging method with wide application prospect in security inspection and counter-terrorism. In this paper, we present a frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) imaging radar with phase coherent reception. The proposed radar scheme works at 240GHz with a bandwidth of 4.8GHz.

Time-frequency analysis of terahertz radar signal for vital signs sensing based on radar sensor

International Journal of Sensor Networks, 2013
In this paper, we studied how to use radar sensing technology to monitor the human target and extract the heartbeat and breath rates of human beings using terahertz bandwidth. Specifically, a type of nonlinear time frequency analysis for the detection of weak signals, i.e., the Smoothed Pseudo Wigner Ville Distribution, is presented.

Terahertz Radar for Imaging Spinning Space Debris

2016
With the increasing of human space activities, the resulting space debris could post a potential threat to on-orbit objects around the Earth, therefore, their size estimation is a vital task in the observation of space debris. Imaging with high-resolution terahertz radar is a promising technique to extract the dimensional and structural feature of the ...

Study of range refocusing techniques for a Terahertz Imaging Radar

2012 37th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2012
In this contribution we compare two different techniques to perform a range refocusing from 12.5 m to 37.5 m in a Terahertz Imaging Radar. The first technique, already verified experimentally, consists on the mechanical translation of the transceiver, whereas the second technique consists on the deformation of a membrane mirror with the potential to ...
