Ceramic dielectric mirrors for the terahertz range

Applied Optics, 2006
We have produced a rigid dielectric terahertz mirror by tape casting and sintering 25 stacked ceramic layers of alumina and alumina-zirconia. Our structure shows a pronounced stop band between 0.3 and 0.38 THz. The experimental data agree well with transfer matrix calculations.

Terahertz spectroscopic investigations of leather in terahertz wave range

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Pulsed THz time-domain spectroscopy is a coherent technique, in which both the amplitude and the phase of a THz pulse are measured. Recently, material characterization using THz spectroscopy has been applied to biochemicals, pharmaceuticals, polymers and semiconductors and has given us important information.

Spectral Holograms in the Terahertz Range

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1996
Abstract We review recent works on temporal frequency holograms. The role of white light excitation is stressed. The interferometric data retrieval technique is emphasized. Both the photorefractive crystals and the persistent spectral hole burning amorphous materials are considered as spectral holography media.

Explosives characterization in terahertz range

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
A Thz spectral characterization of the behaviour of different explosives is presented in this paper. This characterization will be done in the frequency range from 20 GHz to 4 THz using a Teraview Spectra 3000. This system has a capacity of measuring from 20 GHz to 4 THz fed by a laser source. With the Teraview Spectra 3000 equipment will be possible

Klinoorbictron - terahertz range oscillator

2010 INTERNATIONAL KHARKOV SYMPOSIUM ON PHYSICS AND ENGINEERING OF MICROWAVES, MILLIMETER AND SUBMILLIMETER WAVES, 2010
Based upon the developed program that allows for the deposition of current on the slow-wave structure (SWS) the optimal parameters of a 3-mm wave orbictron and klinoorbictron operating at a 3-kV electron beam voltage have been calculated. The beam stratification effect in an orbictron has been studied.

Materials with on-demand refractive indices in the terahertz range

Optics Letters, 2008
We demonstrate the possibility to create materials with chosen refractive indices and a strong birefringence in the terahertz range by etching of patterns with appropriate filling factors in a dielectric substrate. We show that by using deep inductive plasma etching of silicon wafers, it is possible to achieve a birefringence as high as 1.2 in an 80 ...

Ellipsometry in the terahertz range for liquid identification

2009 34th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves, 2009
We present a method to determine the optical constants of a liquid at a given frequency in the terahertz range, by using a backward-wave oscillator as a continuous-wave source and an ellipsometric measurement setup consisting of two wire-grid polarizers.

Tunnelling through the terahertz range

Physics World, 1997
When semiconductor nanostructures are subjected to a strong high-frequency radiation field, they exhibit a type of quantum transport known as photon-assisted tunnelling. The radiation helps the electrons to tunnel between two regions of the semiconductor that are separated by a small barrier, leading to increased current flow.

Frequency Converters for the Terahertz and Infrared Ranges

Радиотехника и электроника, 2023
A method for solving the problem of nonlinear diffraction on two-dimensional periodic gratings of graphene ribbons has been developed. The third-order nonlinear conductivity of graphene under the action of two waves is taken into account, which is determined by the field of the pump wave, for which we use the field on graphene ribbons obtained by ...
