Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy of water vapor
Optics Letters, 1989We describe the application of a new high-brightness, terahertz-beam system to time-domain spectroscopy. By analyzing the propagation of terahertz electromagnetic pulses through water vapor, we have made what we believe are the most accurate measurements to date of the absorption cross sections of the water molecule for the nine strongest lines in the ...

Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy for Material Characterization
Proceedings of the IEEE, 2007Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy is used to study properties of nonpolar amorphous materials. Terahertz absorption spectra and refractive indices were measured in a number of glasses, lubricating oils, and polymers, and the results were correlated with material properties.

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy for textile identification
Applied Optics, 2013A range of natural and artificial textiles are examined using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. Different types of textiles are shown to have different terahertz optical properties, which may be employed for textile identification and to combat textile counterfeiting.

Quality control of leather by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy
Applied Optics, 2014We use terahertz time-domain spectroscopy, combined with effective-medium theory, to measure the moisture content and thickness of leather simultaneously. These results demonstrate that this method could become a standard quality control test for the industrial tanning process.

Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy
2021This chapter aims to serve as an overview of the basic technology and experimental techniques that the work presented in later chapters of this thesis expands on and develops. Section 2.1 will introduce and provide background to the main methods of generating broadband pulses of THz radiation used throughout this thesis, while Sect.

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy
2007The terahertz, or far-infrared, region of the electromagnetic spectrum is of critical importance in the spectroscopy of condensed matter systems. The electronic properties of semiconductors and metals are greatly influenced by bound states (e.g., excitons and Cooper pairs) whose energies are resonant with terahertz photons.

Terahertz Study of Trichloroanisole by Time-Domain Spectroscopy
Frontiers in Optics 2007/Laser Science XXIII/Organic Materials and Devices for Displays and Energy Conversion, 2007This work presents THz time-domain spectroscopy applied in transmission to three TCA compounds (2,3,4-TCA, 2,4,6-TCA and 2,5,6-TCA) in pellet form pressed with polyethylene. Experiment results would be compared to theoretical modeling of the vibrational modes.

Terahertz quasi-time-domain spectroscopy imaging
Applied Optics, 2011We demonstrate terahertz (THz) imaging with a quasi-time-domain spectrometer. This type of THz system is inexpensive, compact, and relatively easy to set up. Beating the simultaneously emitted equidistant modes of a compact diode laser allows for analysis of samples at multiple frequencies with a single measurement.

Determination of Cellulose Crystallinity by Terahertz-Time Domain Spectroscopy
Analytical Chemistry, 2014Terahertz-time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) has the ability to probe the crystallinity of several materials, due to the interaction of THz radiation with optical phonons in crystal lattices. In this work, THz-TDS has been used to quantify the degree of crystallinity of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) samples.
