Toxicity of Terephthalic Acid

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1968
The acute toxicity of terephthalic acid and its sodium salt, the effect of terephthalic acid administration on liver and renal functions, and the chemical composition of blood plasma were studied. LD50 of terephthalic acid in mice was found to be more than 5000 mg/kg by oral administration and 1430 mg/kg by intraperitoneal injection.

Synthesis of Some 1,4-Bis (Substituted 1,3,4-Oxadiazoles and 1,2,4-Triazoles) Benzene From Terephthalic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 1999
In this paper the synthesis of some 1,4-bis-(substituted1,3,4-oxadiazoles and 1,2,4-trizoles) benzene from terephthalic acid is reported. Terephthalic acid was esterified with absolute ethanol in presence of concentrated sulfuric acid to give ethyl ...

Alkaline Depolymerization of Polyethylene Terephthalate Plastic Waste

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2015
Depolymerization reaction is considered one of the most significant ways of converting waste polyethylene terephthalate in to terephthalic acid. The water polyethylene terephthalate bottle waste was collected from different places in Baghdad.

Characterization of New H-Bonded Liquid Crystalline Complexes Based on Iminophenyl Nicotinate

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Two new 1:2 supramolecular H-bonded liquid crystalline complexes (SMHBCs) were prepared through double H-bond interactions between either isophthalic acid (A) or terephthalic acid (B) and a nicotinate Schiff base (I6). The formed complexes were thermally

Novel Phthalic-Based Anticancer Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors: Design, Synthesis and Biological Activity

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology, 2023
In this work, fragments of isophthalic and terephthalic acids are proposed as a structural scaffold to develop potential inhibitors of protein kinases. Novel isophthalic and terephthalic acid derivatives were designed as type-2 protein kinase inhibitors,

Biodegradation of Terephthalic Acid by Isolated Active Sludge Microorganisms and Monitoring of Bacteria in a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2021
Terephthalic acid is extensively used as an important raw material in polyester fibers, as well as the production of polyethylene terephthalate bottles and textile industries. Especially, in the petrochemical industry, toxic chemicals are released to the

Electrocatalytic upcycling of polyethylene terephthalate to commodity chemicals and H2 fuel

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Plastic upcycling to value-added products is of great interests. Here the authors investigate a nickel-cobalt phosphide electrocatalyst for electroreforming of polyethylene terephthalate plastic toward valuable potassium diformate, terephthalic acid, and

Effect of Quantum Delocalization on Temperature Dependent Double Proton Transfer in Molecular Crystals of Terephthalic Acid

open access: yes, 2023
Double proton transfers (DPT) are important for several physical processes, both in molecules and in the condensed phase. While these have been widely studied in biological systems, their study in crystalline environments is rare.
