Distribution of Terephthalic Acid in Tissues

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1968
The terephthalic acid (TPA) in the tissues of rat was assayed with radioactive terephthalic carboxyl-14C acid. Two groups were fed the diet supplemented with 0.5% of TPA for one and three days respectively, and TPA content in each tissue was determined. No difference was found between the groups.

Hydrolysis of Dimethyl Terephthalate for the Production of Terephthalic Acid

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF JAPAN, 2006
Hydrolysis of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) to produce terephthalic acid (TPA) was studied using a batch reactor. Zink acetate was used as a catalyst to promote the reaction rate. We found that the reaction consists of two reactions: from DMT to mono methyl terephthalate (MMT) and then MMT to TPA.

Catalytic Steam Hydrolysis of Polyethylene Terephthalate to Terephthalic Acid followed by Repolymerisation

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2023
A novel industrial cleaning process (DEECOM®, B&M Longworth, Blackburn) hydrolyses polyethylene terephthalate (PET) on contaminated filters using superheated steam at elevated temperature and pressure (300°C and 3 barg).

Biodegradable aliphatic/aromatic copolyesters based on terephthalic acid and poly(L-lactic acid): Synthesis, characterization and hydrolytic degradation

open access: yes, 2010
Biodegradable aliphatic/aromatic copolyesters, poly(butylene terephthalate-co-lactate) (PBTL) were prepared via direct melt polycondensation of terephthalic acid (TPA), 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and poly(L-lactic acid) oligomer (OLLA).

I. On terephthalic acid and its derivatives [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London
Abstract Whilst pursuing our investigation of Burmese naphtha, an abstract of which we have already communicated to the Society, we noticed, among the products of the action of nitric acid on certain liquid hydrocarbons contained in Rangoon tar, an acid of peculiar properties.

Matching the Coupling of Valence Electrons in the Oxide Interface to Perturb the Magnetic Order Enhancing Oxygen Reduction in Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Sub‐5 nm Fe2O3/Sm2O3 heterojunction nanoparticles are anchored on nitrogen‐doped carbon nanofibers, featuring coupled Fe(3d)‐O(2p)‐Sm(4f) orbitals at the interface. The resulting super‐exchange induces antiparallel magnetic ordering at heterointerfaces, suppressing spin‐dependent interaction between surface OH* species and Fe sites to facilitate OH ...

Quantitative Photo‐Reforming of Biomass to CO Spurred by In Situ Protonation of Carbon Dioxide Radical Anions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A “two‐in‐one” photoreduction strategy enabled by electron‐rich yolk Cd species both remote from and adjacent to sulfur vacancies is delivered to be ultraselective for the reduction of O2 and •CO2− in situ formed on the shell Bi2S3 composition (hole) by water oxidation and oxidative C–C cleavage of various biomass organic acids, furnishing CO with > 99%
