Placing Query Term Proximity in Search Context
2020In the information retrieval system, relevance manifestation is pivotal and regularly based on document-term statistics, i.e. term frequency (tf), inverse document frequency (idf), etc.. Query Term Proximity (QTP) within matched documents is mostly under-explored for the relevance estimation in the information retrieval.

Eliciting Proximities between Terms of Ordered Qualitative Scales
2020 IEEE 10th International Conference on Intelligent Systems (IS), 2020In this contribution, we consider that several agents assess a set of alternatives through an ordered qualitative scale composed by linguistic terms. If that scale is perceived as nonuniform, in the sense that the proximities between some pairs of consecutive linguistic terms are not considered identical, we analyze how to generate an ordinal proximity

Term proximity in document retrieval systems
2011 IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Automation Engineering, 2011The Automated information retrieval has appeared with the huge production of documents stored digitally, it allows you to find documents relevant to a user query formulated by keywords. The use of the neighborhood words of query can improve the relevance of research.

On the proximity of distributions in terms of coinciding fractional moments
Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2003The purpose of the paper is to investigate the following question: If there are assigned fixed values of \(M\) fractional moments of a probability distribution on \([0,+\infty)\), how close are all the probability measures sharing the same \(M\) moments?

A note on proximity of distributions in terms of coinciding moments
Applied Mathematics and Computation, 2003The aim of this article is to obtain a uniform approximation of a distribution function for which is considered to be known a finite set of its moments. The author introduces a bound on the absolute difference between two distributions having a determined moment problem and sharing the information contents of their first few moments.

Long-term results following proximal row carpectomy
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 1994The functional outcome, patient satisfaction, and x-ray film status for 23 wrists were examined an average of 6 years following proximal row carpectomy. Surgery was performed for Kienbock's disease, scapholunate dissociation with periscaphoid arthritis, and scaphoid nonunion not suitable for bone grafting. Twenty patients were satisfied with functional

How Effective are Proximity Scores in Term Dependency Models?
Proceedings of the 2014 Australasian Document Computing Symposium, 2014The dominant retrieval models in information retrieval systems today are variants of TF×IDF, and typically use bag-of-words processing in order to balance recall and precision. However, the size of collections continues to increase, and the number of results produced by these models exceeds the number of documents that can be reasonably assessed.

Shoulder arthroplasty for proximal humeral malunions: Long-term results
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 2002Between 1976 and 1997, 50 shoulders with proximal humeral malunions in 50 patients were treated with hemiarthroplasty or total shoulder arthroplasty and followed up for a mean of 9 years (range, 2-21 years) or until the time of revision surgery. Of these, 13 had a 4-part malunion, 24 had a 3-part greater tuberosity malunion, 6 had a 2-part greater ...
