Text categorisation in Quran and Hadith: Overcoming the interrelation challenges using machine learning and term weighting

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences, 2021
Quran and Al-Hadith are interrelated in the sense that both often complement each other in interpreting Islamic teachings. In order to gain comprehension of the Quran in detail, it is vital for a Muslim to refer to Al-Hadith in clarifying ambiguities ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Concept-based one-class SVM classifier with supervised term weighting scheme for imbalanced sentiment classification

open access: yesEngineering and Applied Science Research, 2021
Imbalanced sentiment is one of the key classification issues. Many studies have proposed imbalanced sentiment classification improvements, but the topic remains problematic as a major challenge.

Bento and Buffet: Two Approaches to Flexible Summative Assessment

open access: yesCollected Essays on Learning and Teaching, 2016
This practice-sharing piece outlines two main approaches to flexible summative assessment schemes, including for each approach one example from my practice and another from a published study. The bento approach offers the same assessments to all students

Supervised term weighting for automated text categorization [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2003 ACM symposium on Applied computing, 2003
The construction of a text classi.er usually involves (i) a phase of term selection, in which the most relevant terms for the classi.cation task are identi.ed, (ii) a phase of term weighting, in which document weights for the selected terms are computed, and (iii) a phase of classi.er learning, in which a classi.er is generated from the weighted ...
