Critical Conductance and Its Fluctuations at Integer Hall Plateau Transitions

open access: yes, 1996
Under periodic boundary condition in the transverse direction, we calculate the averaged zero-temperature two-terminal conductance ($$) and its statistical fluctuations ($$ for $n\le 4$) at the critical point of integer quantum Hall plateau transitions ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Experimental characterization of compact fluorescent lamps for harmonic analysis of power distribution systems

open access: yesTecnoLógicas, 2018
The modeling of a compact fluorescent lamp for harmonic analysis under terminal voltage variation is presented in this paper. The compact fluorescent lamp is represented with the diode bridge rectifier model, which is commonly used for harmonic analysis.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Full electrical control of Charge and Spin conductance through Interferometry of Edge States in Topological Insulators

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate electron interferometry of edge states in Topological Insulators. We show that, when inter-boundary coupling is induced at two quantum point contacts of a four terminal setup, both Fabry-P\'erot-like and Aharonov-Bohm-like loop processes ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Modelling of Deceleration Process of Spatial Movements [PDF]

open access: yes
Solution of breaking problem of moving mechanical object is discussed. Five boundary values are used for the problem. Mathematical model of the process has been obtained. Also all dynamic functions and characteristics are represented.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Reducing Investment Risk in Tractors and Combines with Improved Terminal Asset Value Forecasts [PDF]

open access: yes
Secondary asset market data for combines and tractors are used to estimate and separate out historical economic depreciation, embodied technological change and time value change.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
