Quantitative analysis of placental terminal villi from growth-restricted pregnancies
2000A balanced development of the uteroplacental and fetoplacental circulations is essential to ensure the fetal demands for oxygen. Villous development is dependent upon local oxygen conditions. Any disturbance of the circulatory balance will affect maturation of terminal villi and maternofetal oxygen transfer.
