Pharmacokinetic considerations and recommendations in palliative care, with focus on morphine, midazolam and haloperidol [PDF]
Introduction: A variety of medications are used for symptom control in palliative care, such as morphine, midazolam and haloperidol. The pharmacokinetics of these drugs may be altered in these patients as a result of physiological changes that occur at ...

Convergence rates of a dual gradient method for constrained linear ill-posed problems [PDF]
In this paper we consider a dual gradient method for solving linear ill-posed problems $Ax = y$, where $A : X \to Y$ is a bounded linear operator from a Banach space $X$ to a Hilbert space $Y$. A strongly convex penalty function is used in the method to select a solution with desired feature.

Psychiatry and Terminal Illness [PDF]
Objective: To provide an overview of the palliative care literature salient to the psychiatric aspect of end-of-life care. Method: A literature review was conducted, targeting primarily empirical studies that addressed the following topics: 1) psychological issues pertaining to life-threatening conditions; 2) family issues in the context of palliative ...

Burden to Others and the Terminally Ill [PDF]
Studies of patients who are terminally ill consistently identify strong associations between "sense of burden to others" and marked end-of-life distress. However, little research has addressed the issue of burden to others among patients nearing death.

Stochastic asymptotical regularization for linear inverse problems [PDF]
We introduce Stochastic Asymptotical Regularization (SAR) methods for the uncertainty quantification of the stable approximate solution of ill-posed linear-operator equations, which are deterministic models for numerous inverse problems in science and engineering. We prove the regularizing properties of SAR with regard to mean-square convergence.

Penalized Variable Selection with Broken Adaptive Ridge Regression for Semi-competing Risks Data [PDF]
Semi-competing risks data arise when both non-terminal and terminal events are considered in a model. Such data with multiple events of interest are frequently encountered in medical research and clinical trials. In this framework, terminal event can censor the non-terminal event but not vice versa.
