Implications of a weak termination shock
Space Science Reviews, 1996Recent observations from the Voyager spacecraft have suggested that the spectrum of the anomalous cosmic ray component is relatively steep at the termination shock, which is believed to be responsible for accelerating these particles. This conclusion argues that the termination shock must be weak, which in turn requires that the upstream Mach number in

The Heliospheric Termination Shock
Space Science Reviews, 2012The heliospheric termination shock is a vast, spheroidal shock wave marking the transition from the supersonic solar wind to the slower flow in the heliosheath, in response to the pressure of the interstellar medium. It is one of the most-important boundaries in the outer heliosphere.

The termination shock of the solar wind
Space Science Reviews, 1996An overview of the solar wind termination shock is presented including: its place in the heliosphere and its origin; its structure including the role of interstellar pickup ions and galactic and anomalous cosmic rays; its inferred location based on Lyman-α backscatter, Voyager radio signals, and anomalous cosmic rays; its shape and movement.

Shock and terminal pancreatitis
Pathology - Research and Practice, 198563% of 523 lethal cases of shock showed a DIC-syndrome. First of all the lung was affected with 69% of the cases with DIC-syndrome, followed by the pancreas with 52%. In search of disseminated intravascular coagulation, the pancreas is a very favourable organ since other acute superimposed findings normally don't exist.
