Expression of bacteriocin LsbB is dependent on a transcription terminator [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiological Research, 2015
The production of LsbB, leaderless class II bacteriocin, is encoded by genes (lsbB and lmrB) located on plasmid pMN5 in Lactococcus lactis BGMN1-5. Heterologous expression of the lsbB gene using the pAZIL vector (pAZIL-lsbB) in L. lactis subsp.

Genetic fusions that help define a transcription termination region in Escherichia coli

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1976
Abstract The trp A gene product was analyzed from a class of strains of Escherichia coli K12 in which the lac operon has been fused by deletion to the trp operon. These are strains that have retained the ability to synthesize tryptophan.

Further genetic analysis of the C-terminal external loop region in Escherichia coli maltoporin

Research in Microbiology, 1997
LamB specifically facilitates the diffusion of maltose and maltodextrins through the bacterial outer membrane, and acts as a general (i.e. non-specific) porin for small hydrophilic molecules (< 600 daltons). We reported previously that deletion of the last predicted external domain near the C-terminus of the Eschirichia coli LamB protein (residues 376 ...

Genetic heterogeneity of the dnaK gene locus including transcription terminator region (TTR) in Campylobacter lari

British Journal of Biomedical Science, 2008
Nucleotide sequences of approximately 3.1 kbp consisting of the full-length open reading frame (ORF) for grpE, a non-coding (NC) region and a putative ORF for the full-length dnaK gene (1860 bp) were identified from a urease-positive thermophilic Campylobacter (UPTC) CF89-12 isolate. Then, following the construction of a new degenerate polymerase chain

Genetically Engineered Modification of P450 Monooxygenases: Functional Analysis of the Amino-Terminal Hydrophobic Region and Hinge Region of the P450/Reductase Fused Enzyme

DNA, 1988
Modified constructions of a microsomal cytochrome P450, of NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase, and of a P450/reductase fused enzyme were prepared to analyze the function of the amino-terminal hydrophobic regions of these enzymes and the hinge region of the fused enzyme.

Plasmodium falciparum: Genetic diversity of C-terminal region of MSP-1 in isolates from Indian sub-continent

Experimental Parasitology, 2005
Malaria parasites exhibit sequence diversity for a number of stage specific antigens. Several studies have proved that merozoite surface protein-1 (MSP-1) is an effective target eliciting a protective immune response. The MSP-1(42) region comprising two EGF-like domains is involved in generating protective immune response in humans and other ...

Genetic diversity in the 3′-terminal region of papaya ringspot virus (PRSV-W) isolates from watermelon in Oklahoma

Archives of Virology, 2011
The 3'-terminal region (1191 nt) containing part of the NIb gene, complete coat protein (CP) and poly-A tail of 64 papaya ringspot virus (PRSV-W) isolates collected during 2008-2009 from watermelon in commercial fields of four different counties of Oklahoma were cloned and sequenced.

Genetic manipulation revealing an unusual N-terminal region in a stand-alone non-ribosomal peptide synthetase involved in the biosynthesis of ramoplanins

Biotechnology Letters, 2012
Ramoplanins produced by Actinoplanes are new structural class of lipopeptide and are currently in phase III clinical trials for the prevention of vancomycin-resistant enterococcal infections. The depsipeptide structures of ramoplanins are synthesized by non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPS).

Genetic analysis of the long terminal repeat (LTR) promoter region in HIV-1-infected individuals with different rates of disease progression

Virus Genes, 2006
The long terminal repeat (LTR) region of HIV-1 promotes and modulates proviral transcription. LTR genetic variability might influence viral replication and disease progression. Proviral LTR sequences from 32 HIV-1-infected individuals showing different rates of disease progression were examined.

Genetic instability affecting the terminal regions of Streptomyces chromosomes

1997
Spontaneous mutants of S. rimosus were characterised which showed changes in the 387 kb linear plasmid pPZG101 (Gravius et al., 1994). In one case an end of pPZG101 had integrated into the linear chromosome which resulted in the replacement of one chromosome end with a plasmid end.
