The topical issues of the terminology, classification, and statistics of acute forms of ischemic heart disease

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2010
The paper discusses the problems in the formation of statistical information on acute forms of coronary heart disease (IHD) in Russia and possible ways of their solution. Among other problems, there is the detection and notification of cases of sudden coronary death as an independent nosological entity that belongs to the acute forms of IHD.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

About the emblem of Sebeş city

open access: yesAstra Salvensis, 2019
The present study (structured on two levels, one general that deals with terminology and one concrete, dedicated to the study of actual heraldic local marks) dealing with a less researched topic of local history, namelythat of the coat of arms of the ...

Rotation of Crystal Seed During Early Stages of Growth Reveals the Anisotropy of Glass Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics simulations reveal that crystal seeds can spontaneously rotate within glass at high temperatures due to anisotropic forces at the glass‐crystal interface. This rotation challenges the long‐held view of glass as an isotropic solid and highlights how atomic‐scale inhomogeneities can influence crystal growth and microstructure of LiNbO3‐

Functional Mapping of Neurodevelopmental Disease Pathways to Key Neurodevelopmental Processes Represented in the Developmental Neurotoxicity In Vitro Testing Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human‐relevant methods are essential for modern chemical safety assessment. This study helps define the capabilities and boundaries of an in vitro testing battery for developmental neurotoxicity by exploring its biological applicability domain. By linking neurodevelopmental disease‐related pathways to key neurodevelopmental processes, the work enhances

Hierarchical Artificial Muscle with Nonlinear Elasticity for Antagonistic and Cyclic Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We construct hierarchical muscles by plying nylon fibers around a heating wire. The hierarchical muscle shows a J‐shaped passive curve, which shows benefit in antagonistic muscle pair and work accumulation mechanism. We also develop a computational, first‐principle model to understand the physics of both active actuation stroke and passive J‐curve ...
