Termite Resistant Properties of Sisal Fiberboards [PDF]
A study was carried out to test sisal (Agave sisalana Perrine) fiberboards properties as building materials against Asian subterranean termite, Coptotermes gestroi (Wasmann). Evaluation was in the laboratory according to the JWPA Standard-TW-S.1-1992.

Termite resistance of DMDHEU-treated wood [PDF]
Four field trials were conducted with wood modified with dimethyloldihydroxy-ethyleneurea (DMDHEU) in contact with subterranean termites. Trials 1 to 3 were conducted with Coptotermes acinaciformis (Froggatt); 1 and 2 in south-east Queensland, and 3 in northern Queensland, Australia.

Termites promote resistance of decomposition to spatiotemporal variability in rainfall [PDF]
AbstractThe ecological impact of rapid environmental change will depend on the resistance of key ecosystems processes, which may be promoted by species that exert strong control over local environmental conditions. Recent theoretical work suggests that macrodetritivores increase the resistance of African savanna ecosystems to changing climatic ...

Decay and termite resistance of phthaloylated wood

Bacteriophages in the Rhizosphere: Roles in Nutrient Cycling, Bacterial Community Structure, and Animal-Mediated Dispersal. [PDF]
This review discusses bacteriophages' roles in soil ecosystems, highlighting their impact on nutrient cycling, plant health, and soil remediation, as well as animal‐mediated phage dispersal mechanisms. Overall, while bacteriophages have potential biotechnological applications, their negative effects on microbial functions and nutrient cycling highlight

Termites Are Resistant to the Effects of Fire at Multiple Spatial Scales
Termites play an important ecological role in many ecosystems, particularly in nutrient-poor arid and semi-arid environments. We examined the distribution and occurrence of termites in the fire-prone, semi-arid mallee region of south-eastern Australia.

Tropical wood resistance to the West Indian drywood termite
AbstractBACKGROUNDThe importance and impact of invasive species are usually considered based on their economic implications, particularly the direct damage that they cause. The West Indian drywood termite Cryptotermes brevis (Walker) is an example and is a concern in structural lumber, furniture, and other wood products.
