(+)-α-Pinene in the defensive secretion ofNasutitermes princeps (Isoptera, Termitidae)

Experientia, 1990
The frontal secretion ofNasutitermes princeps consists of 89% diterpenes and 11% monoterpenes. In the samples studied, (+)-α-pinene, whose optical purity reaches 99.5%, accounts for more than 80% of the monoterpenic content.

Investigations into the Nutritive Value ofMacrotermes Falciger(Isoptera: Termitidae)

Zoologica Africana, 1975
A study was undertaken to determine the composition of the body material of alates of Macrotermes falciger and to investigate the nutritional value of termite material when fed to white rats. Termites were found to contain 44,3 % fat and 41,8 % protein, on a dry mass basis, and to have a calorific value of 3,2 ± 0,042 Megajoules/100 g.

Energy Consumption of Termite Colonies of Nasutitermes ephratae (Isoptera: Termitidae)

Physiology & Behavior, 1999
Measurements of CO2 production of whole termite colonies showed that respiration intensity varies slightly during the daily cycle, that the relation between standard metabolism and colony size is best described with a negative exponential, taking into account the proportion of the various castes. Larger colonies were more efficient in their energy use,

Neotropical Entomology, 2015
Based on a reexamination of specimens of Crepititermes Emerson deposited in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brasil (MZUSP), we characterize the morphology and coiling in situ of the digestive tube of workers of Crepititermes verruculosus Emerson for the first time.
