Technical Implications of the Use of Biofuels in Agricultural and Industrial Compression-Ignition Engines with a Special Focus on the Interactions with (Bio)lubricants

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The environmental sustainability of agricultural and industrial vehicles, as well as of the transportation sector, represents one of the most critical challenges to the sustainable development of a nation.

3D compatible ternary systems and Yang-Baxter maps

open access: yes, 2013
According to Shibukawa, ternary systems defined on quasigroups and satisfying certain conditions provide a way of constructing dynamical Yang-Baxter maps. After noticing that these conditions can be interpreted as 3-dimensional compatibility of equations

Analogue of vertex operator triality for ternary codes

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 1995
AbstractFor each self-orthogonal ternary code C of length k, one can obtain an untwisted positive definite integral even lattice L(C) by gluing k copies of the root lattice of type A2 with C as the glue code. Under the assumption that C contains (1,…,1), we construct an untwisted space and two twisted spaces associated with a special lattice containing

A large‐scale retrospective study in metastatic breast cancer patients using circulating tumour DNA and machine learning to predict treatment outcome and progression‐free survival

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Ternary Spike: Learning Ternary Spikes for Spiking Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The Spiking Neural Network (SNN), as one of the biologically inspired neural network infrastructures, has drawn increasing attention recently. It adopts binary spike activations to transmit information, thus the multiplications of activations and weights can be substituted by additions, which brings high energy efficiency.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Design of Binary and Ternary Logic Inverters Based on Silicon Feedback FETs Using TCAD Simulator

open access: yesIET Circuits, Devices and Systems, 2023
A feedback field effect transistor (FBFET) with p-n-p-n structure benefits from a positive feedback mechanism. In this structure, the accumulated charges in its potential well and limitation of carrier flow by its internal potential barrier lead to ...

Balanced ternary addition using a gated silicon nanowire [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We demonstrate the proof of principle for a ternary adder using silicon metal-on-insulator single electron transistors (SET). Gate dependent rectifying behavior of a single electron transistor results in a robust three-valued output as a function of the potential of the SET island.

On Ternary $F$-manifold Algebras and their Representations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We introduce a notion of ternary $F$-manifold algebras which is a generalization of $F$-manifold algebras. We study representation theory of ternary $F$-manifold algebras. In particular, we introduce a notion of dual representation which requires additional conditions similar to the binary case.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.
