Novel enhancers of guanylyl cyclase-A activity acting via allosteric modulation. [PDF]
Abstract Background and Purpose Guanylyl cyclase‐A (GC‐A), activated by endogenous atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), plays an important role in the regulation of cardiovascular and renal homeostasis and is an attractive drug target. Even though small molecule modulators allow oral administration and longer half‐life,

Direct Observation of Liquid–Solid Two‐Phase Seed Particle‐Assisted Kinking in GaP Nanowire Growth
The Cu‐assisted gallium phosphide (GaP) nanocrystal growth is directly observed by supplying metal–organic precursors to Cu nanoparticles inside a transmission electron microscope. The accumulation of Ga atoms in the Cu‐based seed particles by controlled precursor supply variations creates liquid–solid two‐phase seed particles.

Refining the Lorenz‐ranking of rules for claims problems on restricted domains
Abstract The comparison of the central rules for claims problems, according to the Lorenz order, has been studied not only on the entire set of problems but also on some restricted domains. We provide new characterizations of the adjusted proportional rule as being Lorenz‐maximal or Lorenz‐minimal within a class of rules on the half‐domains. Using this

Aristotle vs. Plato: The classical origins of capitalist & socialist political economies*
Abstract Competing definitions of justice in Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Politics indicate the existence of two distinct economic systems with different priorities. The three‐class society of the Platonic economy (guardians, auxiliaries, producers) gives rise to guardians who by virtue are expected to enforce output targets on producers directly ...

The Prevention of Eating Disorders in Australian Adolescents: A Modeled Cost-Effectiveness Study. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Objective Prevention programs for eating disorders (EDs) have the potential to reduce the onset of these diseases and improve the mental health and well‐being of the general population. However, there is mixed evidence on whether routine implementation of such programs at the population level is cost‐effective.

Background: There is increasing evidence of cross‐reactivity between allergens of close or distant species. The A‐RISC (Allergens'–Relative Identity, Similarity and Cross‐reactivity) index helps evaluate the risk of theoretical cross‐reactivity between proteins of the same family among different species.

The EPICTER score: a bedside and easy tool to predict mortality at 6 months in acute heart failure
Abstract Aims Estimating the prognosis in heart failure (HF) is important to decide when to refer to palliative care (PC). Our objective was to develop a tool to identify the probability of death within 6 months in patients admitted with acute HF. Methods and results A total of 2848 patients admitted with HF in 74 Spanish hospitals were prospectively ...

A versatile sample-delivery system for X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy of in-flight aerosols and free nanoparticles at MAX IV Laboratory. [PDF]
A new mobile sample‐delivery system dedicated to in‐flight studies of pristine aerosols and unsupported nanoparticles using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy at the MAX IV Laboratory in Lund, Sweden, is presented. The aerosol sample‐delivery system brings an aerosol from atmospheric pressure to the experimental chamber in a continuous flow, and the ...
