ABSTRACT Volatile secondary metabolites in plants can serve as valuable biomarkers for the plant's health, stress response, and pest or disease detection. We have investigated the volatilome of Acer saccharum (sugar maple) leaves using two complementary extraction techniques: headspace‐solid phase micro‐extraction coupled with gas chromatography‐mass ...

Agrimony is a medicinal herb known for its content of polyphenols and beneficial bioactivity, both of which can be strongly influenced by cultivation and processing. This study reveals that agrimony plant structures, species, and postharvest processing are the main drivers of observed variability in both phytochemical composition and antimicrobial ...

Antimicrobial Activity and Chemical Constituents of Siparuna guianensis (Siparunaceae)
ABSTRACT Siparuna guianensis (Siparunaceae) is an Amazonian plant known by the popular name of Negramina. There are several reports of the use of this plant in folk medicine. In the present work, we decided to study its extracts, aiming at the isolation of compounds and verifying their antimicrobial activities.

Essential oils from Eugenia uniflora collected in different coastal phytophysiognomies of Rio de Janeiro showed notable chemodiversity. GC‐MS and GC‐FID analyses revealed nine chemotypes, mainly rich in curzerene and selina‐1,3,7(11)‐trien‐8‐one. ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the yield, color, and chemical composition of Eugenia uniflora ...

The volatile profile of Betula papyrifera hardwood has been characterized using both hydrodistillation and HS‐SPME coupled with GC‐MS/FID. Hydrodistillation yields a fatty acid‐rich essential oil, while HS‐SPME reveals a broader range of low‐molecular‐weight volatiles, including aromatics and terpenoids.

ABSTRACT Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua Boiss.) is a valuable fragrance ingredient used in fine perfumery for its green, woody, balsamic, bell pepper, and foliage notes. The objective of the study was to identify and quantify the main compounds of this resinoid extract to gain a better knowledge of its chemical composition to support further ...
