Terpenoids, also known as isoprenoids, are the most numerous and structurally diverse natural products found in many plants. Several studies, in vitro, preclinical, and clinical have confirmed that this class of compounds displays a wide array of very important pharmacological properties.

Nematicidal activity of terpenoids
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2013Thirty four phytoterpenoids were evaluated for their nematicidal effect using the model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Nematicidal activities of the tested compounds at concentrations of 50 μg/mL showed wide variation in their effects ranging from no effect, weak, moderate and strong effects.

Terpenoids (terpenes and their oxygenated derivatives) are common tropospheric species. Information concerning the terpenoids and assessing their importance in atmospheric processes is sparse and widely distributed, however. This review presents chemical structure, physical property, and source information for 45 terpenoids known to be emitted into the

Expanding the terpenoid kingdom
Nature Chemical Biology, 2018Terpenoids are assembled from five-carbon (C5) units, which limits the available scaffold chemical space for the discovery of bioactive molecules. A combination of enzyme and metabolic engineering now enables biosynthesis of a plethora of non-natural C11 terpenoids.

Microbial Conversions Of Terpenoids
2015The monograph describes examples of the application of microbial technology for obtaining of derivatives of terpenoids. Obtaining new derivatives of terpenoids, including artemisinin derivatives with increased antimalarial activity, is an important goal of research in microbial biotechnology and medicinal chemistry.

The study of polyesters was extended over a wider range of temperature. The ratio of the specific retention volumes on two different polyesters for a typical hydrocarbon is nearly equal to the number of methylene groups spaced between the two carboxyl groups of the acidic fragment of the polyester.

The terpenoid theory of the origin of cellular life: the evolution of terpenoids to cholesterol
Chemistry & Biology, 1994Terpenoids have an apparently essential function in modern cellular membranes, reinforcing them against shear stresses. Primitive membranes could initially have been formed by simple terpenoids, and vesicles formed from these membranes may have evolved into progressively more complex units, more and more similar to protocells.
