Cannabidiol as a Neuroprotective Agent in Acrylamide‐Induced Neurotoxicity: Effects on Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Cholinergic Function in Male Mice

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 103, Issue 12, December 2025.
Cannabidiol (CBD) protects against acrylamide‐induced neurotoxicity in mice by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and cholinergic dysfunction, while restoring BDNF levels. These findings highlight CBD's potential as a therapeutic agent for preventing environmental neurotoxicity and supporting brain health.

Flavonas, lignanas e terpeno de Piper umbellata (Piperaceae) [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2009
The phytochemical investigation of Piper umbellata leaves yielded nine compounds including one terpenoid glucoside, five flavones (vitexin 2"-O-β-glucopyranoside, apigenin 8-C-β-D-glucopyranoside,orientin 8-C-β-D-glucopyranoside,5-hydroxy-7,3',4'-trimethoxy-flavone and velutin), two lignans (sesamin e dihydrocubebin) and 4-nerolidylcathecol.

Medicinal cannabis extracts are neuroprotective against Aβ1–42‐mediated toxicity in vitro

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 135, Issue 5, Page 575-592, November 2024.
Abstract Background Phytocannabinoids inhibit the aggregation and neurotoxicity of the neurotoxic Alzheimer's disease protein β amyloid (Aβ). We characterised the capacity of five proprietary medical cannabis extracts, heated and non‐heated, with varying ratios of cannabidiol and Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol and their parent carboxylated compounds to ...

Cannabidiol Modulation of Nicotine‐Induced Toxicity: Assessing Effects on Behavior, Brain‐Derived Neurotrophic Factor, and Oxidative Stress in C57BL/6 Male Mice

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 102, Issue 9, September 2024.
High nicotine dose induces anxiety‐like behavior in mice in the Open Field Test, alongside oxidative stress, proinflammatory cytokine secretion, and brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) reduction in brain regions. Cannabidiol acts as an anxiolytic, exhibiting antioxidant activities, reducing cytokines, and normalizing BDNF levels.

Confinement Effects in Catalysis: Steering the Product Selectivity in Cannabidiol Isomerization by the Resorcinarene Supramolecular Capsule

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 16, Issue 16, August 26, 2024.
The confinement effect provided by the resorcinarene hydrogen bonded capsule in the presence of HCl accelerates the isomerization of cannabidiol leading to cyclic and hydrated products that are uncommon compared to the same reaction with traditional strong Brønsted acids, thus widening the chemical scenario provided by the capsule.
