A maximum density rule for surfaces of quasicrystals [PDF]
A rule due to Bravais of wide validity for crystals is that their surfaces correspond to the densest planes of atoms in the bulk of the material. Comparing a theoretical model of i-AlPdMn with experimental results, we find that this correspondence breaks

The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.

About terraces on the shore of the Teriberskaya Bay of the Barents Sea (the Kola Peninsula)
The paper considers the results of the study of modern terraces on the coast of the Lodeyny Peninsula in the Barents Sea. According to field observations, decoding of space and geodetic maps and volumetric modeling, signs of three terraces have been ...

Optically-stimulated luminescence profiling and dating of historic agricultural terraces in Catalonia (Spain) [PDF]
Dating agricultural terraces is a notoriously difficult problem for archaeologists. The frequent occurrence of residual material in terrace soils and the potential for post-depositional disturbance mean that conventional artefactual and lab-based dating ...

Bimetallic Nanoparticles as Cocatalysts for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production
Recent developments have introduced bimetallic nanoparticles as effective cocatalysts for photocatalytic systems. This review explores the rapidly expanding research on bimetallic cocatalysts for photocatalytic production of hydrogen, emphasizing the creation of carrier‐selective contacts, localized surface plasmon resonance effects, methodologies for ...

The role of topography feedbacks in enrichment of heavy metal elements in terrace type region
Minerals, metallurgy, and other production activities will cause a large number of heavy metal elements to leak into the natural environment. A large number of heavy metal elements have been found in the farmland soil, where the adsorption of plants ...

Les vestiges antiques de l’Angélique à Lyon 5e
Among the numerous Antique edifices still standing in Lyon, the Angélique is the least well known. Often mentioned in the literature, its remains were first interpreted as an ergastulum, a temple, and then a terminal water tower of the Gier aqueduct ...

Electronic structure near an impurity and terrace on the surface of a 3-dimensional topological insulator [PDF]
Motivated by recent scanning tunneling microscopy experiments on surfaces of Bi$_{1-x}$Sb$_{x'}$\cite{yazdanistm,gomesstm} and Bi$_2$Te$_3$,\cite{kaptunikstm,xuestm} we theoretically study the electronic structure of a 3-dimensional (3D) topological ...
