Is integrated taxonomy useful to study diversity and ecology? An example from crustacean zooplankton at the Long‐Term ecological research site MareChiara (LTER‐MC)

open access: yesMarine Ecology, Volume 44, Issue 3, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Molecular tools increasingly refine and improve the identification of zooplankton organisms based on phenotypic features, providing a more robust and comprehensive species description. Integration of data helps revealing the hidden diversity of zooplankton and facilitating the detection of rare and non‐indigenous species.

Body mass and growth rates in captive chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) cared for in African wildlife sanctuaries, zoological institutions, and research facilities

open access: yesZoo Biology, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 98-106, January/February 2023., 2023
Piecewise linear regression estimated that male chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) housed in African sanctuaries had a slower rate of growth and an older age at maturation for body mass compared with their zoological and research counterparts. In contrast, male zoological and research populations had a similar growth rate and age at maturation.

Behavior and Viability of Third-Stage Larvae of Terranova sp. (Type HA) and Anisakis simplex (Type I) Under Coolant Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1984
This study reports effects of storage at cold temperatures on behavior and survival of third-stage larvae of Terranova sp. (type HA) and Anisakis simplex (type I) in marine fishes. Snappers, caught near the Hawaiian Islands, were examined to determine whether type HA and type I larvae could migrate from the viscera of ungutted fishes into edible ...
