Written documents about Christian pilgrimages to the Holy Land have been known since the Itinerarium burdigalense (fourth century). Since then, pilgrims’ travels have never stopped, but the fall of Acre (1291) was a dramatic turning-point. This paper aims to reconstruct the pilgrim’s life in partibus infidelium during the late mamluk period (1291-1517):

Florentines in particular wrote a lots of diaries which describe their feelings towards the people they met and the countries they visited. Some of these diaries are still unpublished.
