Test of renormalization predictions for universal finite-size scaling functions

open access: yes, 1999
We calculate universal finite-size scaling functions for systems with an n-component order parameter and algebraically decaying interactions. Just as previously has been found for short-range interactions, this leads to a singular epsilon-expansion ...

Testing piecewise functions [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2018
This work explores the query complexity of property testing for general piecewise functions on the real line, in the active and passive property testing settings. The results are proven under an abstract zero-measure crossings condition, which has as special cases piecewise constant functions and piecewise polynomial functions.

Adherence to Protocol Recommendations for Children With Wilms Tumour in Two Consecutive Studies in the United Kingdom and Ireland—Does Variation Matter?

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Wilms tumour (WT) has excellent event‐free and overall survival (OS). However, small differences exist between countries participating in the same international study. This led us to examine variation in adherence to protocol recommendations as a potential contributing factor.

Composite Test Functions for Benchmarking Nonlinear Optimization Software

open access: yesMathematics
Nonlinear optimization (NLO) is widely applicable to model and solve decision problems arising in engineering, economic, financial, and scientific studies. Due to the general scope of NLO, optimization model difficulty varies substantially, requiring the

Fluctuations for analytic test functions in the Single Ring Theorem

open access: yes, 2017
We consider a non-Hermitian random matrix $A$ whose distribution is invariant under the left and right actions of the unitary group. The so-called Single Ring Theorem, proved by Guionnet, Krishnapur and Zeitouni, states that the empirical eigenvalue ...

Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Pedotransfer functions to estimate proctor test parameters under different tillage systems

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2010
The Proctor test is time-consuming and requires sampling of several kilograms of soil. Proctor test parameters were predicted in Mollisols, Entisols and Vertisols of the Pampean region of Argentina under different management systems.
