Predisposition alleles for testicular germ cell tumour
Current Opinion in Genetics & Development, 2010For some time, it has been known that there is a substantial genetic component to testicular germ cell tumour susceptibility, supported by several pieces of evidence, including the significantly increased familial risk and differential risk among races.

MAD2 expression and its significance in mitotic checkpoint control in testicular germ cell tumour [PDF]
Chromosomal instability (CIN) is a common characteristic in testicular germ cell tumour (TGCT). A functional mitotic checkpoint control is important for accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis.

Testicular germ-cell tumours in a broader perspective
Nature Reviews Cancer, 2005The germ-cell tumours are a fascinating group of neoplasms because of their unusual biology and the spectacular therapeutic results that have been obtained in these tumours. Traditionally, this group of neoplasms is presented in an organ-oriented approach.

Genetic predisposition to testicular germ-cell tumours
The Lancet Oncology, 2004Testicular germ-cell tumours (TGCT) are the most common neoplasm in young men. Various studies have suggested the existence of an inherited predisposition to development of these tumours. Genome-wide screens subsequently provided evidence of a TGCT susceptibility gene on chromosome Xq27 (TGCT1) that might also predispose to cryptorchism.

Laminin in testicular germ cell tumours
APMIS, 1990Thirty‐five testicular germ cell tumours comprising 16 yolk sac tumours, 15 embryonal carcinomas and 13 seminomas were examined for the presence and distribution of laminin using an indirect immunoperoxi‐dase technique. In addition, nine normal yolk sacs and 23 carcinomas of the lung were studied.

In this chapter, I will discuss the cultivation in vitro of cells from biopsy specimens of human testicular germ cell tumours. These fascinating tumours command the attention of oncologists and biologists for several reasons. From the standpoint of the cancer therapist, while germ cell tumours represent one of the few success stories achieved with ...

Testicular Germ Cell Tumours. Current Problems of Histogenesis and Classification
Journal of Urology, 1985Testicular germ cell tumours, owing to their variety in biological behaviour and morphological appearance, claim a place of their own in clinical oncology and tumour research. Much of the histogenesis has remained unexplained, as reflected by the different systems of pathological classification.

Testicular germ cell tumours in Iceland
APMIS, 2006The purpose of this study was to examine the pathology of all germ cell tumours of the testis diagnosed in Iceland 1955–2002. A total of 214 patients were included in the study. The current age‐standardized incidence was found to be 6.1 per 100,000 and had increased almost fourfold during the study period. Seminoma was diagnosed in 55% of cases.

The Genetics of Testicular Germ Cell Tumours
2002Testicular Germ Cell Tumours (TGCT) affect 1 in 400 men in the UK. Two per cent of TGCT cases report another affected family member. The familial relative risk is estimated to be 8–10 fold for brothers of cases and 4–6 fold for fathers and sons.
