Ultrasound morphological patterns of testicular tumours, correlation with histopathology

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, 2021
Introduction Ultrasound (US) plays a key role in the detection of testicular tumours. However, reliable characterisation of testicular tumours with US is difficult.

Spermatogenesis and sertoli cell activity in mice lacking Sertoli cell receptors for follicle stimulating hormone and androgen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Spermatogenesis in the adult male depends on the action of FSH and androgen. Ablation of either hormone has deleterious effects on Sertoli cell function and the progression of germ cells through spermatogenesis.

Impact of Radiation Therapy on Physical and Psychosocial Health of Adolescents and Young Adults: A Joint Report From the Children's Oncology Group AYA and Radiation Oncology Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rates of cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA), age 15–39 years, are increasing. Consequently, radiation oncologists are treating more AYAs who have diagnoses spanning both pediatric and adult practices. Compared to pediatric and older adult patients, AYAs face a unique set of challenges.

Growing Teratoma Syndrome of Ovary: Avoiding A Misdiagnosis of Tumour Recurrence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014
Growing teratoma syndrome is characterized by conversion of immature gonadal germ cell tumour to a mature form, along with increase in size of the lesions.

The tumour suppressor CCDC6 is involved in ROS tolerance and neoplastic transformation by evading ferroptosis

open access: yesHeliyon, 2021
Coiled-coil domain containing 6 (CCDC6) is a tumour suppressor gene involved in apoptosis and DNA damage response. CCDC6 is known to be functionally impaired upon gene fusions, somatic mutations, and altered protein turnover in several tumours ...

Evaluation of therapeutic effects of D‐limonene following orchiopexy in the rat model of cryptorchidism

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
D‐limonene supplementation enhances testicular recovery following orchiopexy in a rat model of bilateral cryptorchidism. Treatment with D‐limonene reduces oxidative stress (↓MDA, ↑SOD, ↑GPx, ↑TAC), downregulates pro‐apoptotic proteins (↓TNF‐α, ↓BAX, ↓Caspase‐3), and upregulates anti‐apoptotic Bcl‐2 expression.

The World Health Organization 2016 classification of testicular germ cell tumours: a review and update from the International Society of Urological Pathology Testis Consultation Panel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Since the last World Health Organization (WHO) classification scheme for tumours of the urinary tract and male genital organs, there have been a number of advances in the understanding, classification, immunohistochemistry and genetics of testicular germ

Ursolic Acid Alleviates Orchitis via Modulating Ferroptosis in Peritubular Myoid Cells of Testis

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Ursolic acid modulates key ferroptosis‐related pathways in the peritubular myoid cells of the testis in forest musk deer. ABSTRACT Chronic stress adversely affects reproductive health, increasing susceptibility to pathologies such as orchitis. Additionally, the maintenance of iron homeostasis is essential for preserving the function of the testicles ...

Heat stress in spermatogenesis: a redox‐dependent decision network linking ROS, autophagy, and regulated cell death

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heat stress (HS) is an increasing threat to male reproductive health, disrupting spermatogenesis through complex and interdependent cellular responses within the seminiferous epithelium. Although excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) production is a hallmark of HS, ROS also act as central regulators of cell fate decisions beyond their role ...

Geographical Pattern of Testicular Cancer Points to Maternal Exposures Behind Increasing Incidence

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Evidence suggests that testicular cancer (TC) originates from germ cell neoplasia in situ arising during fetal development, implying that prenatal environmental exposures may influence disease risk. We investigated whether maternal place of residence during pregnancy is associated with regional variation in TC incidence.
