Effects of chronic browsing on life‐history traits of an irruptive large herbivore population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study aimed to determine the relationship between diet quality, body mass, and size (hind foot length), and female reproduction and sought to identify the mechanism by which high density under severe food limitations is maintained. Our results demonstrated that sika deer introduced to Nakanoshima Island have maintained high densities through high ...

Unraveling the genetic traits and functional diversity of the pan-genome in Pantoea dispersa

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Medical devices are crucial in modern healthcare, but commonly used clinical tools such as cotton swabs can be easily contaminated by microorganisms (such as Pantoea), becoming vectors for pathogens and leading to patient infections or more ...

Saliva Testing Is Accurate for Early-Stage and Presymptomatic COVID-19

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2021
Although nasopharyngeal samples have been considered the gold standard for COVID-19 testing, variability in viral load across different anatomical sites could cause nasopharyngeal samples to be less sensitive than saliva or nasal samples in certain cases.

The Second Raabe's Test and Other Series Tests [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The classical D'Alembert's Ratio Test is a powerful test that we learn from calculus to determine convergence for a series of positive terms. Its range of applicability and ease of computation makes this test extremely appealing. However, it admits an inconclusive case when the limiting ratio of the terms equals 1. Several series tests like Raabe's and

The Efficiency of Quantum Identity Testing of Multiple States [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 41 (2008) 395309, 2008
We examine two quantum operations, the Permutation Test and the Circle Test, which test the identity of n quantum states. These operations naturally extend the well-studied Swap Test on two quantum states. We first show the optimality of the Permutation Test for any input size n as well as the optimality of the Circle Test for three input states.

Leveraging current insights on IL‐10‐producing dendritic cells for developing effective immunotherapeutic approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/
