Metalloporphyrin-catalyzed decomposition of cyclic diperoxides (1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes)

Mixed steroidal tetraoxanes induce apoptotic cell death in tumor cells
Investigational New Drugs, 2008In this study we investigated the antiproliferative activity of six mixed steroidal tetraoxanes against various tumor cell lines, the toxicity against normal peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), and the mode of HeLa cell death induced by these compounds.

Radiation‐induced solid state polymerization of tetraoxane
Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Letters, 1963The radioinduced polymerization of tetraoxane is reported and compared with that of trioxane. Under gamma irradiation at 80 deg C and at a dose rate of 2.5 x 10/sup 4/ r/hr, tetraoxane became gradually opaque. After 18 hr irradiation a polymer crystal with the shape of the monomer crystal was obtained at 94% conversion. However, no polymer was obtained

Synthesis and antimalarial activities of novel 3,3,6,6-tetraalkyl-1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2006The oxidative system H2O2/fluorinated alcohol (TFE, HFIP) was used for direct acid- and MeReO3-catalyzed synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes from cyclic (C6, C7, and C12) and acyclic ketones. The influence of ring size and alkyl chain length were studied and antimalarial activities of synthetic 3,3,6,6-tetraalkyl-1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes were determined ...

Radiation‐induced polymerization of tetraoxane in the solid state
Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1: Polymer Chemistry, 1971AbstractThe radiation‐induced polymerization of tetraoxane in the solid state has been investigated in air and in vacuo. The polymerization rate was higher in air than in vacuo, whereas the molecular weight of the polymer obtained at high conversion in air was considerably lower than in vacuo.

ChemInform Abstract: Phosphomolybdic Acid Catalyzed Synthesis of 1,2,4,5‐Tetraoxanes.
ChemInform, 2012AbstractThe condensation of dihydroperoxides and carbonyl compounds is achieved using phosphonomolybdic acid as the catalyst and anhydrous magnesium sulfate as water scavenger to yield spirocyclic tetraoxanes as subunits of antimalarial drugs.

Synthesis, antimalarial activity and cytotoxicity of substituted 3,6-diphenyl-[1,2,4,5]tetraoxanes
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2009Substituted tetraoxanes with different substitution pattern on the aromatic ring were synthesized in order to explore the influence of different substituents in the antimalarial activity. Antimalarial activity of these compounds improves by the introduction of ethyl, iso-propyl or n-propyl groups in the aromatic ring but substitution with n-butyl or t ...
