The bacterial community associated with Tetraselmis suecica outdoor mass cultures

Journal of Applied Phycology, 2016
Interactions between algae and associated bacterial communities in the phycosphere depend on many factors such as culture age, nutrient availability, and antibiotic production and greatly influence algal survival and growth. The microbial community associated with the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica F&M-M33 in a laboratory culture and an outdoor ...

Dynamic filtration with a perforated disk for dewatering of Tetraselmis suecica

Environmental Technology, 2017
Dynamic filtration equipped with a perforated disk was adopted for the first time to dewater and concentrate Tetraselmis suecica, from a typical solution of 2-100 g/L of dense biomass suited for the downstream process. An ultrafiltration membrane, polyethersulfone 150 kDa, was found to best perform in terms of high biomass retention and filtration rate.

Cadmium Bioaccumulation in Tetraselmis suecica : An Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) Study

Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1997
Electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) was used to study the distribution of cadmium within the microalga Tetraselmis suecica when submitted to cadmium contamination. This analytical technique, which is associated to transmission electron microscopes, demonstrated that cadmium was stored specifically in the osmiophilic vesicles of T. suecica.

Physiological insights into enhanced lipid accumulation and temperature tolerance by Tetraselmis suecica ultraviolet mutants

Science of The Total Environment, 2022
High outdoor temperatures significantly inhibit the growth and lipid production of the industrially promising marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica, which is viewed as a potential feedstock for high-value bioproducts and biofuels. To overcome this limitation, T.

Nutritional value of spray-dried Tetraselmis suecica for juvenile bivalves

Aquaculture, 1991
Juvenile bivalves of five commercially important species (Tapes philippinarum, T. decussata, Mercenaria mercenaria, Crassostrea gigas and Ostrea edulis) were fed a spray-dried preparation of Tetraselmis suecica. Growth and carbohydrate content of the juveniles were measured and compared with animals fed live T.

Factors affecting the growth and the oil accumulation of marine microalgae, Tetraselmis suecica

Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering, 2011
Biomass production and oil productivity in microalgae culture are the most important key factors for algal biodiesel production. However, proper culture condition for the biomass production of microalgae is different from that for the oil production of microalgae.

Microbial interactions in Tetraselmis suecica phycosphere

2017
The zone that surrounds microalgal cells is defined as phycosphere. Algae-bacteria interactions in the phycosphere can be neutral, positive or negative for algal growth and can vary depending on the main growth limiting factors. Besides, the same bacteria can either stimulate or inhibit algal growth.

Growth of Tetraselmis suecica in a tubular photobioreactor on wastewater from a fish farm

Water Research, 2014
Wastewater from a fish farm was remediated in a continuously operated tubular photobioreactor in which Tetraselmis suecica was cultured. The N and P removal efficiencies and the productivity of T. suecica growing on the wastewater were determined. Possibilities to optimize the productivity by adding extra orthophosphate were investigated.

Use of fresh and preserved Tetraselmis suecica for feeding Crassostrea gigas larvae

Aquaculture, 2001
Abstract In an attempt to provide cost-effective alternative diets and to simplify hatchery–nursery procedures, substitutes for live microalgae in mariculture were tested and among them, concentrated microalgae have so far appeared to be the best alternative products for bivalves, though there are few experimental studies.
