The synthesis of yellow tetrazolium
Histochemie, 1969The syntheses of 4,4′-biphenyl tetrazonium chloride monohydrate, of 1,1′-di-(3-nitrophenyl)-3,3′-dimethyl-5,5′-(4,4′-biphenylene)-diformazan, and of yellow tetrazolium [2,2′-di-(3-nitrophenyl)-5,5′-dimethyl-3,3′-(4,4′-biphenylene)-ditetrazolium chloride] are described. Solutions of the pure formazan in pyridine absorb visible light maximally at 455 nm;

Nitroblue Tetrazolium Dye Test
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1973Excerpt To the editor: The report of Lauter and associates (Ann Intern Med79:59-62, 1973), that the nitroblue tetrazolium dye test was positive in 16 patients with myocardial infarction and 1 with ...

One of the most sensitive and widespread colorimetric detection systems in matrix-based application formats is the redox couple 5-bromo-4-chloro-indolyl phosphate (BCIP)/nitroblue tetrazolium chloride (NBT). It is used for the detection and localisation of alkaline phosphatase activity especially in Western and Southern blots or in immunohisto ...

Tetrazolium salts: a consumer's guide
The Histochemical Journal, 1976The purities of seven tetrazolium salts, obtained from various commercial sources, have been assessed by thin layer chromatography, relative extinction coefficients, and melting points. MTT and INT were largely homogeneous on thin layer chromatography, although significant variations occurred in the melting point behaviour.

The Nitroblue Tetrazolium Test in Tuberculosis
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1974Of 43 patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis, 44% had positive NBT tests. The NBT test in seven cases reverted to negative with antituberculous therapy. Alcoholism, diabetes mellitus, and prior steroid administration did not affect the test.

The Nitroblue Tetrazolium Test in Lymphoma
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1973The nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) dye test was performed in 25 cases of lymphoma. Four of six patients with active, untreated lymphoma and with no evidence of bacterial infection had positive NBT tests (more than 10% of neutrophils reduced the dye to formazan). One of these four patients had occasional negative tests.
