Technical Note: Assay of cell quantity in the fibroblast-populated collagen matrix with a tetrazolium reagent [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Cells & Materials, 2006
Determination of cell quantity in three-dimensional culture systems, such as the fibroblast-populated collagen matrix, can be difficult secondary to the abundance of extracellular collagen.

Synthesis of 3-(phenylazo)-1,2,4-triazoles by a nucleophilic reaction of primary amines with 5-chloro-2,3-diphenyltetrazolium salt via mesoionic 2,3-diphenyltetrazolium-5-aminides

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2009
The reactions of a 5-chloro-2,3-diphenyltetrazolium salt with amines have been examined. In the presence of an inorganic base such as NaHCO3, primary and secondary amines undergo a nucleophilic substitution to give the corresponding 5-aminotetrazolium ...

In vitro germination of zygotic embryos of hybrid BRS Manicoré (E. guineensis X E. oleifera)

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
The interspecific oil palm hybrid BRS Manicoré (E. guineensis x E. oleifera) has superior agronomic characteristics. However, the germination rate is low (30%) and the process is slow when the seeds are sown in a conventional form.

Sowing seasons and qualitative performance of soybean seeds

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2015
Changes in the soybean sowing season directly reflect on the physiological potential of the seeds produced. This study aimed to identify sowing seasons that qualitatively improve the soybean seeds yield.

Suitability of tetrazolium test for Tamarindus indica L. seeds

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2022
Seed quality is routinely assessed by direct tests, e.g, the germination test, or indirect tests like the tetrazolium test, which has shoown to be promising in the determine viability and vigor, allowing the diagnosis of the main problems that may affect

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.
