Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Vm–MSI: a Vancomycin–Antimicrobial Peptide Conjugate Combating Resistant Bacteria and Broadening the Antimicrobial Spectrum

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A series of vancomycin‐antimicrobial peptide conjugates is synthesized and evaluated to identify the optimal combination. Vm‐MSI, selected from multiple candidates, exhibited potent activity against vancomycin‐resistant and Gram‐negative bacteria by disrupting membranes and inducing oxidative stress, thereby expanding vancomycin's antibacterial ...

Ion-Association Complexes of Gallium(III) – 4-(2-Pyridylazo)-resorcinol Anionic Chelates and Dicationic Tetrazolium Reagents

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2013
The formation and liquid-liquid extraction of ion-association complexes between gallium(III)-4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) anionic chelates and cations of four ditetrazolium chlorides (DT2+) were studied: Neotetrazolium chloride (NTC), Blue ...

TETRAZOLIUM CHLORIDE AS A TEST REAGENT FOR FREEZING INJURY OF SEED CORN [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1949
Rapid methods for estimating viability in seeds have been suggested by a number of workers. Most of these are dependent upon the increased permeability (6, 10) or decreased reducing power (5, 8) of dead cells or tissues. Staining methods involving the reduction of selenium salts (4) or of tetrazolium compounds (9, 11) to colored forms by the action of ...

TRIM56 Aggravates Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury via Inhibiting KLF4‐Activated Ferroptosis Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM56 exacerbates neuronal ferroptosis and brain damage by mediating K48‐linked ubiquitination and degradation of KLF4, leading to suppression of the xCT/GSH/GPX4 axis. Targeting TRIM56 alleviates cerebral ischemia‐reperfusion injury in vivo and in vitro, highlighting its therapeutic potential.

Beyond Catalytic Therapy: Copper‐Paeonol Nanozymes Disrupt Fascin‐Mediated Actin Bundling to Suppress Tumor Growth and Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Copper‐paeonol nanozymes target tumor‐specific reactive oxygen species generation and disrupt fascin‐mediated actin bundling, effectively suppressing tumor growth and metastatic colonization. Abstract Fascin, an actin‐bundling protein universally upregulated in metastatic tumors, drives tumor migration and invasion by promoting filopodia and ...

Rigid Hollow Microparticles for Enhanced Focused Ultrasound Treatment Under Optoacoustic Guidance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By combining focused ultrasound (FUS) and acoustically active hollow borosilicate microparticles (HBMPs), we demonstrate tunable control over interparticle dynamics and their localized thermal energy deposition. Modulation of acoustic frequency and particle concentration tailors the energy delivery, allowing adaptive, material‐based regulation of ...
