Abstract The electrospinning technique is a commonly employed approach to fabricate fibers intended for various tissue engineering applications. The aim of this study is to develop a novel strategy for tendon repair through the use of aligned poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) and poly(glycerol sebacate) (PGS) fibers fabricated in benign solvents, and further ...

A Deadly Poison Becomes a Useful Tool [PDF]
The very high potency of TTX and its highly selective block of nerve and skeletal muscle fibers has already shed a great deal of light on their excitation properties and should lead to the ability to specify an entirely new type of anesthetic agent even ...

Acclimation responses of Arabidopsis thaliana to sustained phosphite treatments [PDF]
Phosphite () induces a range of physiological and developmental responses in plants by disturbing the homeostasis of the macronutrient phosphate. Because of its close structural resemblance to phosphate, phosphite impairs the sensing, membrane transport,

Several populations of Sonchus oleraceus were found to be highly resistant to 2,4‐Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4‐D), with cross‐resistance to other auxinic herbicides. The resistant populations all contained three amino acid deletions on either side of the highly conserved degron of SoIAA20, whereas the susceptible populations did not.

Targeted nutritional intervention attenuates experimental lung cancer cachexia
Abstract Background Cachexia, a syndrome with high prevalence in non‐small cell lung cancer patients, impairs quality of life and reduces tolerance and responsiveness to cancer therapy resulting in decreased survival. Optimal nutritional care is pivotal in the treatment of cachexia and a recommended cornerstone of multimodal therapy.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Trouessart): a novel gene arrangement among arthropods [PDF]
Background: The apparent scarcity of available sequence data has greatly impeded evolutionary studies in Acari (mites and ticks). This subclass encompasses over 48,000 species and forms the largest group within the Arachnida.

Injury From Nematode Lung Migration Induces an IL‐13‐Dependent Hyaluronan Matrix
ABSTRACT A consistent feature of lung injury is a rapid and sustained accumulation of hyaluronan (HA). The rodent gut‐dwelling nematode Nippostrongylus brasiliensis (Nb) induces tissue damage as it migrates through the lungs. Type 2 immune responses are essential for the repair of the lungs, hence Nb infection is a well‐established model to study ...

Influence of different parameters on the decrease of extra-myocardial activity Gated-SPECT studies [PDF]

Jasmonate-induced defense mechanisms in the belowground antagonistic interaction between Pythium arrhenomanes and Meloidogyne graminicola in rice [PDF]
Next to their essential roles in plant growth and development, phytohormones play a central role in plant immunity against pathogens. In this study we studied the previously reported antagonism between the plant-pathogenic oomycete Pythium arrhenomanes ...

Impact of CT attenuation correction on the viability pattern assessed by 99mTc-tetrofosmin SPECT/18F-FDG PET [PDF]
SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is commonly used for comprehensive interpretation of metabolic PET FDG imaging in ischemic dysfunctional myocardium. We evaluated the difference in scan interpretation introduced by CT attenuation correction (CTAC)
