Gender and leadership in Judith: A Greimassian contribution

open access: yesHTS Teologiese Studies/Theological Studies, 2018
The structuring of the narrative with characters assigned to fulfil particular roles is often indicative of an author’s possible intent. Thus, characterisation, in a story, is not neutral about its rhetorical intent; it generally reveals cultural values ...

Robustness of s-wave Pairing in Electron-Overdoped $\text{A}_{1-y}\text{Fe}_{2-x}\text{Se}_2$

open access: yes, 2011
Using self consistent mean field and functional renormalization group approaches we show that s-wave pairing symmetry is robust in the heavily electron-doped iron chalcogenides $(\text{K, Cs}) \text{Fe}_{2-x}\text{Se}_2 $.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Emotional Text-To-Speech in Japanese Using Artificially Augmented Dataset

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study explores the feasibility of using artificial emotional speech datasets generated by existing artificial voice-generating software as an alternative to human-generated datasets for emotional speech synthesis.

Coupling of structure to magnetic and superconducting orders in quasi-one-dimensional $\text{K}_2\text{Cr}_3\text{As}_3$

open access: yes, 2017
Quasi-one-dimensional $A_2\text{Cr}_3\text{As}_3$ (with $A = \text{K, Cs, Rb}$) is an intriguing new family of superconductors which exhibit many similar features to the cuprate and iron-based unconventional superconductor families.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

On German verb sense disambiguation: A three-part approach based on linking a sense inventory (GermaNet) to a corpus through annotation (TGVCorp) and using the corpus to train a VSD classifier (TTvSense)

open access: yesJournal of Language Modelling
We develop a three-part approach to Verb Sense Disambiguation (VSD) in German. After considering a set of lexical resources and corpora, we arrive at a statistically motivated selection of a subset of verbs and their senses from GermaNet.
