During the last 15 years, the production of documents in digital form has exploded, due to the increased availability of hardware and software tools for generating digital data (e.g., personal computers, digital cameras, word processors) and for digitizing data that had been originated in nondigital form (e.g., scanners, OCR software).

Text categorization for streams
Proceedings of the 30th annual international ACM SIGIR conference on Research and development in information retrieval, 2007We describe a novel system for evaluating and performing stream-based text categorization. Stream-based text categorization considers the text being categorized as a stream of symbols, which differs from the traditional feature-based approach which relies on extracting features from the text.

Automated text document categorization
2015 IEEE Seventh International Conference on Intelligent Computing and Information Systems (ICICIS), 2015During the last two decades the number of text documents in digital form has grown enormously. It is necessary to categorize documents into topics and sub topics for easy retrieval. Manual categorization of text documents can be done only by experts and it is a time consuming task.

Deep encrypted text categorization
2017 International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI), 2017Long short-term memory (LSTM) is a significant approach to capture the long-range temporal context in sequences of arbitrary length. This had shown astonishing performance in sentence and document modeling. To leverage this, we use LSTM network to the encrypted text categorization at character and word level of texts.

Text Categorization Techniques: A Survey
2021 International Conference on Innovative Practices in Technology and Management (ICIPTM), 2021The amount of data being generated during recent times has been exponentially huge. The data mainly comprises of unstructured data in the form of textual information like emails, tweets, articles etc. To gain information from these textual data, traditional way of analyzing cannot be used.

Associative text categorization exploiting negated words
Proceedings of the 2006 ACM symposium on Applied computing, 2006Associative classification has been recently applied to text document categorization. However, differently from classification of structured data, the quality of the generated classifier is rather low. This effect is mainly due to the poor precision of generated rules. To increase the precision of associative classifiers we propose the use of ...

Evaluating text categorization
Proceedings of the workshop on Speech and Natural Language - HLT '91, 1991While certain standard procedures are widely used for evaluating text retrieval systems and algorithms, the same is not true for text categorization. Omission of important data from reports is common and methods of measuring effectiveness vary widely.

Hierarchical Text Categorization Using Neural Networks
Information Retrieval, 2002Summary: This paper presents the design and evaluation of a text categorization method based on the hierarchical mixture of experts model. This model uses a divide and conquer principle to define smaller categorization problems based on a predefined hierarchical structure. The final classifier is a hierarchical array of neural networks.

2003
The sudden expansion of the web and the use of the internet has caused some research fields to regain (or even increase) its old popularity. Of them, text categorization aims at developing a classification system for assigning a number of predefined topic codes to the documents based on the knowledge accumulated in the training process.
