Lexical attraction for text compression [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings DCC'99 Data Compression Conference (Cat. No. PR00096), 1999
[Summary form only given]. The best methods of text compression work by conditioning each symbol's probability on its predecessors. Prior symbols establish a context that governs the probability distribution for the next one, and the actual. The next symbol is encoded with respect to this distribution.

Text Compression Using Antidictionaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We give a new text compression scheme based on Forbidden Words ("antidictionary"). We prove that our algorithms attain the entropy for balanced binary sources. They run in linear time. Moreover, one of the main advantages of this approach is that it produces very fast decompressors.

A Compression Algorithm for DNA Palindrome Compression Technique [PDF]

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2020
Data Compression in Cryptography is one of the interesting research topic. The compression process reduces the amount of transferring data as well as storage space which in turn effects the usage of bandwidth.

Lossless text compression using GPT-2 language model and Huffman coding [PDF]

open access: yesSHS Web of Conferences, 2021
Modern daily life activities produced lots of information for the advancement of telecommunication. It is a challenging issue to store them on a digital device or transmit it over the Internet, leading to the necessity for data compression.

Compression of parallel texts [PDF]

open access: yesInformation Processing & Management, 1992
Abstract The world-wide use of digital storage and communications devices is increasing the need to make texts available in multiple languages. In this article we explore the possibility of storing a compressed form of a translated version of a text, taking advantage of the availability of the original text.

Better Adaptive Text Compression Scheme [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2018
A data compression scheme suggested by Ziv and Lempel, LZ77, is applied to text compression. A slightly modified version suggested by Storer and Szymanski ,LZSS, is found to achieve compression ratios as good as most existing schemes for a wide range of ...

Universal compressed text indexing [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2019
The rise of repetitive datasets has lately generated a lot of interest in compressed self-indexes based on dictionary compression, a rich and heterogeneous family that exploits text repetitions in different ways. For each such compression scheme, several different indexing solutions have been proposed in the last two decades.

Hybrid Lossless Compression Techniques for English Text

open access: yesJournal of Techniques, 2023
Since the demand for data transfer and storage is always increasing, sending data in its original form will take a long time to send and receive. Compression is an important issue for digital communications systems because it imposes an important rule ...

A Compression-Based Toolkit for Modelling and Processing Natural Language Text

open access: yesInformation, 2018
A novel compression-based toolkit for modelling and processing natural language text is described. The design of the toolkit adopts an encoding perspective—applications are considered to be problems in searching for the best encoding of different ...

Towards the Text Compression Based Feature Extraction in High Impedance Fault Detection

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
High impedance faults of medium voltage overhead lines with covered conductors can be identified by the presence of partial discharges. Despite it is a subject of research for more than 60 years, online partial discharges detection is always a challenge,
