Writer Identification on Multi-Script Handwritten Using Optimum Features

open access: yesKurdistan Journal of Applied Research, 2017
Recognizing the writer of a text that has been handwritten is a very intriguing research problem in the field of document analysis and recognition. This study tables an automatic way of recognizing the writer from handwritten samples.

Text-Line Extraction as Selection of Paths in the Neighbor Graph [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
This paper presents a new method of text-line extraction which can be applied to tilted non-rectangular pages. The method is characterized as follows. As the representation of physical structure of a page, we propose the neighbor graph which represents neighbors of connected components.

Natural Killer Cells in Paediatric Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paediatric soft tissue sarcomas (pSTS) are a rare and heterogeneous group of malignant tumours arising in tissues of mesenchymal origin. The role of natural killer (NK) cells in pSTS remains poorly understood, with evidence fragmented across small preclinical studies and early‐phase clinical trials.

Text-Dependent Writer Identification for Arabic Handwriting

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2012
This paper proposes a system for text-dependent writer identification based on Arabic handwriting. First, a database of words was assembled and used as a test base. Next, features vectors were extracted from writers' word images.

Animal‐Assisted Activities With Therapy Dogs in Pediatric Oncology: A Multicenter Survey of the Current Status, Implementation, and Challenges in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Animal‐assisted activities (AAAs) with therapy dogs have shown positive effects on patient well‐being and quality of life in various areas of medicine, including pediatric oncology. However, research on this topic is limited. The aim of this study is to present the current status of AAA in pediatric oncology in Germany, Austria, and

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A Hybrid Method for Text Line Extraction in Handwritten Document Images [PDF]

open access: yes2018 16th International Conference on Frontiers in Handwriting Recognition (ICFHR), 2018
Text line segmentation in handwritten document image, as one of the preliminarily steps for document image recognition, is a challenging problem. In this paper, a hybrid method for text line extraction in handwritten document images is presented. Initially, a connected component (CC) labelling method following by a CC filtering is employed to extract a

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
