Texture analysis of stained cells
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992Blast cells, also referred to as immature mononuclear cells, are key indicators in the diagnosis and treatment of leukemias. Pappenheim-stained blasts exhibit a single, more or less dark magenta, generally round nucleus surrounded by light blue cytoplasm.

Texture Discrimination and the Analysis of Proximity
Perception, 1979A major theory of early visual processing has recently been proposed by Marr, which considers a number of aspects of visual perception in great detail, including grouping and texture discrimination. New phenomena associated with texture discrimination are described and experiments reported which allow a preliminary comparison of Marr's theory, as it ...

Multifractal texture analysis and classification
Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003Existing fractal methods of texture analysis rely on the fractal dimension of textures as a function of scale for their discrimination and classification. We propose a method which is based on the possible multiscaling/multifractality of textures. A stochastic model is suggested to represent this multiscaling behaviour.

Feature Analysis and Texture Synthesis
2007 10th IEEE International Conference on Computer-Aided Design and Computer Graphics, 2007Most texture synthesis algorithms explicitly or implicitly adopt Markov random field or similar distribution as their basic model to guide the synthesis process. However, MRF-like models can 't handle textures well with large scale structure or unstable structure due to their inherent local and stable assumptions. To make improvement in this regard, we

Cluster-based texture analysis
Proceedings of 13th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 1996This paper presents a novel hierarchical cluster based texture model. The method first estimates a code-book for micro-texture in pixel neighbourhoods using a variant of Bezdek's fuzzy c-mean clustering routine. The elements of the code-book are then used to "represent" the image.

Analysis and Synthesis of Structural Textures
2000With the advent of image based modeling techniques, it becomes easier to apply textures extracted from reality onto virtual worlds. Many repetitive patterns (structural textures) in human constructions can be parametrized with procedural textures. These textures offer a powerful alternative to traditional color textures, but they require the artist to ...

Fractal feature and texture analysis
Systems and Computers in Japan, 1988AbstractAlthough fractal dimension is popular in computer graphics, it is not yet utilized adequately in image analysis. Thus, this paper presents an example of the application of fractal dimension to image analysis. First, the conventional fractal concept is described and then the possibilities of its application to image processing are discussed ...
