Microstructure, Texture Evolution, and Mechanical Properties of MDFed GWZ Alloy Containing LPSO Phases on the Condition of High and Low Temperature Cycle Deformation

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The current work systematically investigated the microstructure, texture evolution, and mechanical properties of MDFed Mg-13Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.5Zr (wt%) alloy (GWZ) on the condition of high and low temperature cycle deformation.

Within-guild dietary discrimination from 3-D textural analysis of tooth microwear in insectivorous mammals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Resource exploitation and competition for food are important selective pressures in animal evolution. A number of recent investigations have focused on linkages between diversification, trophic morphology and diet in bats, partly because their roosting ...

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

In-situ Loading Device for Neutron Texture Diffractometer

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
The texture of polycrystalline material is the preferred orientation distribution of its crystallites. As an intrinsic feature of metals, alloys, ceramics and polymers, texture strongly affects many properties of polycrystalline materials.

Unraveling critical dynamics: The formation and evolution of topological textures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We study the formation of topological textures in a nonequilibrium phase transition of an overdamped classical O(3) model in 2+1 dimensions. The phase transition is triggered through an external, time-dependent effective mass, parameterized by quench ...

Evolution of the Texture in Steelcord

open access: yesTexture, Stress, and Microstructure, 1991
Tyre industry wishes always wires with best mechanical performances. This continuous improvement of the performances needs the knowledge and the understanding of the deformation process of the wire. To reach this goal, it is useful to know the cristallographic texture and its evolution during the drawing process. The depth of penetration of X Ray not ...

Nanoindentation Criteria for Combinatorial Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thin‐film material libraries are compositional spreads used for screening composition‐structure‐property relationships. Nanoindentation is often used to characterize mechanical behavior across these systems, however variations in methodology are widespread.

Micro-Scale Simulation of Microstructural Evolution in Aluminum 1050 Using Crystal Plasticity Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Materials Science and Engineering
The investigation of the mechanical response and microstructural evolution of engineering materials at the micro-scale under macro-scale loading poses a significant challenge in mechanical engineering, particularly in the fields of material forming and ...
